Shoulder weeks we actually book
Eight stretches of the year that are quietly better than the postcard months.

Every destination has a shoulder season — the weeks just before or after the crowds arrive. The weather is almost as good. The prices are noticeably lower. And the experience is disproportionately better, because the places you visit are not performing for volume.
Eight stretches
Northern Italy, late May. Japan, early November. The Maldives, late April. Iceland, early September. Greece, mid-October. Kenya, early June. Patagonia, late March. The Amalfi coast, the last week of September. These are not secrets — they are simply less convenient than school holidays and long weekends. That is what makes them better.
The experience is disproportionately better, because the places are not performing for volume.
Why we push for them
In a shoulder week, the hotel general manager has time to talk. The restaurant gives you the better table. The hiking trail has twelve people on it, not two hundred. The version of the place you see is the version the locals live in — not the version built for August visitors.
If your dates have any flexibility at all, tell us. We will find the shoulder week that fits.
